SDVC vets are highly skilled and carefully mentored. All staff attend regular Continuing Education courses, such as ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, canine reproduction, antibiotics, oncology, Penn Hip Scoring and new product launches.

A free second opinion is available within the practice for clients wishing to discuss their pet's condition with a senior veterinarian. We are most happy to provide this service upon request.

Dr Jeannet Kessels BVSc (Hons)
Practice Principal and Senior Veterinarian

Dr. Jeannet Kessels BVSc (Hons) graduated from the University of Queensland with First Class Honours in 1986.  She is the owner of Springfield District Vets and well known within the community.  Jeannet is a senior veterinarian with wide practical experience and a warm approach.  She performs many major surgeries within the practice and hopes to complete further education in surgery in 2011.  She has a particular interest in breeding work.  Jeannet is delighted to provide a free second opinion within the practice upon request.

She enjoys family life and is following artistic pursuits in her spare time.

Dr Karen Williams BVSc (Hons)

Dr. Karen Williams BVSc (Hons) graduated from the University of Queensland with First Class Honours in 2007. She enjoys thorough workup of medical cases, is precise in her surgery and is well liked by clients.  Karen is developing her special interest in ultrasound. Karen enjoys jumping and dressage with her handsome thoroughbred 'Pete'.

Dr Marilyn Neale BVSc (Hons)

Dr. Marilyn Neale BVSc (Hons) graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in 2005.  She enjoys small animal medicine and diagnostic imaging and is an excellent surgeon.  Marilyn's warm and compassionate approach endears her to clients. Marilyn owns a pet whippet.

Dr Pagaen Boyd BVSc (Hons)

Dr. Pagaen Boyd BVSc (Hons) graduated from the University of Queensland with First Class Honours in 2009 as a top level veterinary student. As a child, she bred and showed Springer Spaniels. Pagaen has a particular interest in animal reproduction, having spent time with Veterinary Reproduction Specialist Dr Phil Thomas. Pagaen is an excellent general veterinarian, dedicated and thoughtful in all of her work.  Pagaen is mentored by Dr Jeannet Kessels.

Dr Rachel Ball BVSc (Hons)

Dr Rachel Ball BVSc (Hons) graduated from the University of Queensland with First Class Honours in 2009 as a top level veterinary student, along with her twin sister. She has a flair for Small Animal Medicine with a particular interest in Endocrinology (the study of hormone imbalances). Rachel is extremely thorough  and is kind and considerate in all that she does.  Rachel is mentored by Dr Jeannet Kessels.
